Octavie Dostaler-Lalonde

Octavie Dostaler-Lalonde is a cellist specializing in historically informed performance. Her international career spans solo, chamber, pedagogical, and orchestral roles at prestigious festivals like BBC Proms, Early Music Festival Utrecht, and BachFest Leipzig. Since September 2024, she teaches historical cello and chamber music at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

Her research has led to lectures at Cornell and Oxford, and her articles are featured in Musikforschung der Hochschule der Künste Bern. Co-directing the ensemble Postscript with Artem Belogurov, her solo CDs on Challenge Classics have garnered critical acclaim, including a Gramophone Editor’s Choice, 5-star reviews in De Standaard and BBC, and a nomination for the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik.

She has the pleasure of playing a cello by Thomas Dodd (Covent Garden, 1800) on loan from the Nationaal Muziekinstrumenten Fond, as well as her own baroque cello signe J. M. Alban fecit Graz ca.1700-30. To follow her projects, visit:
